ACU installation

 

The ACU (Assessment Cache Unit) is a solution that aims to provide a local-secure copy of the assessment and facilitate running assessments with ease and schedule submission/syncing of results whenever a connection is possible, and it will be deployed in any school or college campuses to enable uninterrupted wide-scale & high-concurrency exam sessions.

 

This is the installation guide step by step for the ACU:

 

 

          Step1:

 

Double click on the setup icon

 

 

          Step2:

 

Preparing to install the ACU

 

 

          Step3:

 

Click on "Next"

 

 

          Step4:

 

Click on "Install" to start installing

 

 

          Step5:

 

Finish installing the ACU

 

 

          Step6:

 

 

Now go to "SQL Server Configuration Manager"

 

          Step7:

 

Enable both "Named pipes" and "TCP/IP"

 

          Step7.1:

 

 

This how  you can enable "Named pipes" and "TCP/IP" by right clicking on each one and clicking "Enable"

 

 

          Step8:

 

Run "SQL Server Browser", double click to open properties.

 

 

          Step8.1:

 

Under Service tab, go to the properties of "Start Mode" and choose Automatic

 

 

          Step8.2:

 

Go to the "Log On" tab and click on "Start" to start the service

 

 

          Step9:

 

Go to "GamaLearn" folder, under C:/Program Files (x86)/GamaLearn and right click on this folder "SwiftAssess.ACU"

 

 

          Step10:

 

 On Properties, go to Security tab and click "Edit"

 

 

          Step10.1:

 

 

Give full control for both "Network service" and "Users" groups, then click Apply and then OK.

 

 

          Step11:

 

 

Open "UltiDev Web App Explorer"

 

 

          Step12:

 

In the application, choose "Move to another host process"

 

 

          Step12.1:

 

Choose "ASP.NET 4.0 (Full)

 

 

          Step12.2:

 

Run it as "64-bit system"

 

 

          Step12.3:

 

Choose "Network Service"

The host process is "Shared host process"

Press "Finish" and "Yes" after that.

 

 

          Step13:

 

You have to make sure that it's highlighted in green which means its working properly

 

 

          Step14:

 

 

In "Network Addresses" tab get the port number

Add inbound and outbound firewall rules for the specific port number that the ACU uses

 

 

          Step15:

 

 

Then navigate to this step (http://*IP-address*:*Port number*/SwiftAssess.ACU/)

 

 

          Step16:

 

You will be redirected to this login page.

Enter your credentials and login

          Note: If this step didn't work, you need to refresh the page.

 

 

          Step17:

 

The pop up window will appear

Choose the ACU license available

Enter the instance name (School/campus name)

Click on "Pair & Activate"

 

 

Validating the service

 

After installing the ACU, check if the ACU is active and running or not by going to run and type "services.msc" or search for "services":

 

 

You can notice that "ACU Update Service" is working. If you want to make sure that the service is working properly search for "Event Viewer" and when you open it, it will look like this:

 


 

Here, you can notice that the ACU is active and keeps on sending update information messages with the date and time of each update.

 

The following message: "ACU instance is active and running" means the ACU is active and working properly. If there's a new update for the ACU, You will get this message "ACU instance updated" and a backup of the ACU will be done before that.
