The Drag and Drop questions present examinees with an image that contains one or more pre-defined spots or locations that text or image needs to be dragged to. This question is in the Advanced Types and is only available in Assessments. On the Add Question page, click on "Drag and Drop". You will be redirected to the editor for the Drag and drop question.

Add a New Drag and Drop Question

In the Question Content section, you can upload a background image that you will apply for the drag and drop. The allowed types of images are PNG or JPEG. The maximum file size is 1 MB per file. Once your image has been uploaded, you will get the editor for the question.

Images of width greater than 1024 pixels will be scaled down to 1024 pixels of width.

There are two modes for Drag and Drop. You can add a text spot to the image or an image spot to the image.

Text Mode

In the  mode, you can add a new target item to the picture by typing in the item name and then clicking the  button. Once you have done this, you will get a spot on the picture which you can drag and resize.

To add another target area for an item, click any of the shapes on the item within the box, and you will get another spot for the same item. Then click on the position to place it at. The +/- buttons decide how many copies of the item should be dragged by the examinee (e.g. if you want to spot biceps, you can make two copies of the spot and place them on the desired locations). The maximum number of copies is the number of target areas for an item. The colors for the patterns are meant for accessibility.

If you choose Accept Partial Answer in the Additional Options column, then the examinee can submit the answer with not all of the spots dragged and dropped and partial grade will be accepted. If not, then the whole question will be treated as incorrect

To remove a single spot from the picture, hover over the spot and click the  button on the top right corner. If there are multiple copies of the spot, all of them will be deleted.

To remove all spots from the picture, click the  button.

Image Mode

In the  mode, you can select the image by browsing and then follow the same steps as for the text mode.
